A little RTS-control system for peds I did a while ago. Old, unfinished, unpolished, consider it a demo. In the future I may finish it, if there's interest.
You need to spawn the peds via any trainer, RTSMode doesn't spawn anything. You can also control any ambient ped if you want.
Features:
- Control NPCs using standard RTS controls, task them to attack, move, enter/leave cars, etc.
- Freeform squad creation, just select a leader then select the rest of the peds. You can have as much squads as you like.
Upcoming Features:
- Squad spawns
- Anything I consider useful, suggestions included.
How to Install:
"RTSMode.dll" goes in the /scripts/ folder.
How to play:
- Enter RTS Mode: Enter 'rts' cheat in the game's cheat console (º key)
- Controls: WASD, Mouse wheel
- Slowmo: Space
- Height-independent-movement: also Space
- Exit RTS Mode: Press E or enter 'rts' again.
- Create Squad: Click on an NPC that's not part of any squad.
- Add NPC to squad: click on an non-squad npc while the squad is selected.
- Remove NPC from squad: Click on an npc squad while its squad is selected.
- Select squad: Click on any NPC that's part of a squad.
- Orders: Right click while a squad is selected. This is context aware.
- Deselect squads: click anywhere.
Orders (right click):
On foot:
- On a vehicle: enter the vehicle.
- On a person: attack the person.
- On ground: go there. They will face the direction your camera is facing when you give the order.
On vehicle:
- On another vehicle: Escort it if its from another squad, attack it otherwise.
- On ground: go there.
- On its own vehicle: leave/land the vehicle.

Struggling to get motivation to work on any project for weeks now. So, I've decided to patch this thing and release it so you guys at least know it exists and can play around with the concept.
I don't know if i'll get back to it, but its better than nothing.

@InfamousSabre Never heard of that. I learned from a military guy, the difference between strategy and tactics is that a strategy is planned ahead (at an office) while tactics are ad hoc decisions made in the field.

@Cyron43: While I agree with that completely, RTS still stands for Real Time Strategy. It is a popular genre of videogame including series such as Starcraft, Warcraft, Total War, and Command and Conquer.

BTW interesting way to start the mod, using the cheat console, better than having tons of keys/hotkeys!
@Eddlm As I see, the script doesn't allow to make two squads fight each other?
@EnforcerZhukov Nope. RTSMode's aim is mostly to help the player approach missions (script missions tood) in a more tactical way, also adding replayability in the process.
There aren't plans to have the squads hate each other, ideally they're here just to help you.
We'll see if i add editable relationships in the future. The plans do include basic missions to play around with the RTS thing.

This mod is great but it would be amazing if you could set up team battles.

This combinedwith the body guard mod of yours will be awesome. Going into free cam as the time slows down to order your squads to go in a far off position from you and then switching back to the in game camera to shoot. This will be so cool mate. Please fulfill my wish :'(!!
I use this to play couch co-op with my nephew, he use the mouse and keyboard (as the npc), I use the x360 gamepad (as the main character)...
need a bit adjustment here and there though.. :D

how i can use the mouse cursor in game? i enter on a RTS mode but dont have the mouse cursos, lol
would be possible to add some command like stay, defend here, .... make formation ect ... I think the mod is great idea just need some work
btw how do you switch between red and yellow team?
You should give it a men of war vibe like tell places where to take cover or allow them to have an inventory of weapons they can switch to
R* just should use the ROBLOX business model for GTA6, so people could easily make different games using its engine and assets. The engine, and assets, and the decent AI that almost all stock game engines lack, and, especially, the living city and the already huge modding community are already the best in the gaming industry for that purpose. Even without proper SDKs and lacking documentation we see what excellent ideas can be implemented.
I personally would spend many hours in a battle royale in San Andreas or in a more or less polished RTS on the RAGE engine. Heck, I'm sure something like My Summer Car, Fallout or Untitled Goose Game wouldn't be out of the scope of one dev if a decent SDK was available.
This mod is excellent proof, that the GTA game world should have much more game modes than a simple story and a couple uninvolved online modes and that the engine isn't far off from handling it. San Andreas pushed the boundaries of different game modes in one game (racing, rythm games, freeroam, casinos, rc planes, gang wars, flight school, etc) but unfortunately, it didn't really translate into the HD era.
FiveM is another proof that such a business model, given an official release, would be astonishingly popular.
Thanks for pushing the boundaries of what is possible with GTA modding to a whole other level! It's sad that this mod likely won't have a bright future in the current state of things, but it's a clear demonstration that GTA will fade out of popularity with just too much untapped potential.
