The gore in Grand Theft Auto V is pretty weak even by Rockstar Games standards. The gore could of been toned down due to the limitations of the last gen consoles or because using extreme gore could of lead to pissed off parents. I, like many people didn't like how the gore looked low res or boring so I decided to make a new mod that improves the gunshot wounds, cuts, splatter, and blood soak.
You will need OpenIV to install this mod:

Installation paths are in the install folder.
Version 1.0 notes:
Smaller wounds on the torso, legs, and arms.
Splatter on Wounds are a bit bigger.
Soakage on wounds are larger.
Stab wounds are much larger and they
soak skin.
Shotgun wounds are spread out.
Explosions that are very close to the player will give the player realistic looking
cuts and broken skin.
Headshots will have bigger wounds.
Version 1.1 notes:
Wound color now has a tiny bit of lightened red.
Blood soak is a tiny bit bigger.

Punching/meleeing people can wound marks on peds.

Brand new blood splatter textures.
Blood splatter correlates to where a person is shot, not randomized. Regular smaller splatter on places except for head, while
clumpy blood for headshot.
Knifes now leave a line of blood or small splatter depending on how character kills person.
No longer a generic splatter, peds get small wounds on head if hit.
Small splatter sometimes when ped hit with hammer or blunt object.
Hammer hits lead to another wound type (Varies in size), while other blunt objects have a different wound.
If shot with sniper, sometimes a line of blood will splatter out.
New textures for other materials such as glass, metal, etc.
Some texture sizes on materials reduced to save space (they look basically the same as before).
Gunshot wounds are more organized on entry while exit wounds are more messy and less circular.
6 individual blood pools all of which different shapes and sizes (for regular version, not beta blood spill feature version).

- Soaking trails down vertically now most/all cases, 2 different types.
- Soaking/splatters will start out a lighter shade of red, progressively get darker as blood clots.
- Splatter textures redone, new variations for every type of shot.
- Even more wound types (over 30+), for more calibers and shot/blunt instances
Pedestrians will occassionally spread blood on walls/floor when sliding near surfaces.
- Horizontal thin blood splatters used for all instances, including bailing
- Better chunky blood splatters used for hard impacts (falling, run over, etc).
New blood pools, 6 new variations and redone from ground up.
Burned skin textures redone, made bigger (some parts look odd, limitations of ped design)

The gore in Grand Theft Auto V is pretty weak even by Rockstar Games standards. The gore could of been toned down due to the limitations of the last gen consoles or because using extreme gore could of lead to pissed off parents. I, like many people didn't like how the gore looked low res or boring so I decided to make a new mod that improves the gunshot wounds, cuts, splatter, and blood soak.

NOTE FOR USERS OF WEAPONS AND SOUND MODS: any mods that modify the weapons.meta file can sometimes lead to wonky effects with this mod, this is because weapons.meta can also allow changes of wound/damage variations for each type of gun (ex. Realistic Weapons Sounds 5.5.1 FULL version, audio only ver. will work great). make sure to use audio only versions of these weapons mods or if need by replace with the vanilla weapons.meta mod for now (OR replace the <PedDamageHash> sections with the regular vanilla parameters that way you can keep any muzzle/flash modifications).
@Pavelthedrippy i think i may of removed that at one point during testing, i was originally thinking trying to get it put in fully with the mod but the weird issue with blood pools and player getting also having the spilling effect made me keep it as beta feature.
@malthe1111 unfortunately as far as i'm aware blood effects and spilling effects mainly effect all peds, unless there is a string out there that allows me to control certain effects between peds and players (similar to scratches). if there is one i'd love to add it in since i know the sounds the spilling effect make (it's pretty much just the oil spill effect made red) can be annoying at times lol

it could be an rpf for client side, i think that is the easiest way to make it for fivem
@katoneba i haven't had time to look into the fivem version, i haven't actually used it before lol. i'll see about it one day, if not since the mod is "open-source" if someone wants to they can make a fivem patch as well
Could you make a manual installation as well? The OIV package overwrites a lot of unnecessary files, which breaks certain aspects of RDE, for example. A manual installation would be a nice option to have.

@Bravercoolio how can I use this mod with Natural Vision Evolved? I tried to use them together a while ago, but the Natural Vision overwrites Improvements in Gore with its own. How can I make it so I can use Natural Vision with Improvements in Gore without the Natural Vision’s gore activating?

@Sling Blade i'll see down the line about re-adding that, if not you can open the .OIV file with winrar/7zip/etc, the folders should be labeled in the .oiv to point where to installed
@DranMallyn there is a file in update/update.rpf/common/data/effects called bloodfx.dat, scroll down to where it says FIREARMS (Small, Med, etc) scroll to the right and you see a category that says fx_system, replace what's there with a - sign that way no blood spray effect is shown.

@MrBene i use NVE, basically install NVE first and all it's add-ons, and then install improvements in gore over it, though the spilling effect (which luckily is only optional) overwrites certain textures like fire/etc so if you want those i'd juse use the base improvements in gore .oiv.
@kwasekpo yep, from the looks of it, i can't pinpoint an exact version but it's gonna be a pre 2.6 version since it looks the shot gun wounds on the head are regular sized wounds as opposed to the bigger ones added in 2.6
